Warehouse Worker
Job purpose
- To assist the Warehouse Supervisor and Operations Manager in the execution of TAS’ daily responsibilities.
- To ensure all TAS outbound orders are assembled and verified, according to set procedures.
- To play a role in maintaining the cleanliness and integrity of the warehouse, in accordance with HACCP and CFIA regulations.
- To ship and receive products according to daily plan and set procedures.
Duties and responsibilities
Shipping and Receiving: Responsible for the shipping and receiving of inbound and outbound shipments. Warehouse workers will count all freight being received and/or shipped. This includes the verification of packaging condition. They must denote any issues on any freight bill being signed (damages, shortages, other visual quality issues).
Preparing orders, putting away stock, and other inventory management functions: This refers to the receiving, labelling, sorting, put-away of inventory, as well as physical counts and keeping records. Also, preparing orders for shipment of products stored in TAS warehouse.
HACCP and CFIA: Warehouse Workers are responsible for adhering to HACCP, CFIA and any other regulations inherent to TAS programs. They must also understand that TAS, being a Federally Inspected facility, maintains a close working relationship with CFIA. TAS Employees are obligated to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner in all dealings with CFIA representatives. Dedicated HACCP training is provided upon hiring and quarterly.
RF Scanners: Warehouse Workers will use RF scanners to complete all Shipping and Receiving tasks as trained. Monitoring Temperatures: TAS specializes in the transportation and storage of frozen and fresh food products, therefore Warehouse workers are obligated to take the temperature of products at various key moments in the receiving & shipping process. This can include taking the temperature of product(s) being received, or verifying and checking that a carrier reefer is properly set to the correct temperature.
Professionalism: TAS Employees must understand that they represent the company and treat their colleagues, TAS’ customers and affiliates with respect and consideration. Employees are to be friendly, polite and professional in all of their dealings for TAS. A well-groomed, clean appearance is mandatory.
Communication: TAS Employees are to maintain good communication throughout daily job assignments with the Warehouse Supervisor and their colleagues. Mutual respect in all interactions.
Qualifications
- Secondary Education (High School Diploma)
- Strong interpersonal and social skills
- Forklift Certification (Narrow-aisle reach truck, ride-on electric walkie (jigger), sit-down counter balance forklift.
- Optional: Skyjack certification
- Optional: First-aid certification
Working conditions
Work performed within a cold, refrigerated environment (Between 3C and -22C).
The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in weight, as occasionally there are hand-piling tasks to be completed.Secondary Education (High School Diploma)
Compensation
Starting wage of $22.41 per hour.
2 weeks annual paid vacation. Health, dental and vision care insurance paid for by company.
