Inventory Control Associate

Job purpose

The Inventory Control Associate position is responsible for the maintenance of the integrity of the physical inventory held in the warehouse. The individual in this role will execute cycle counts, conduct spot checks, verify empty locations, make room for inbound shipments, verify outbound shipments, and consolidate / relocate inventory as required to optimize space. They may be required to provide physical reports on their work and update them over time. All activities will be to ensure that systemic information accurately reflects the physical location, condition, and quantity of products in the warehouse, and that customer goods are being treated with care and rotated in accordance with first expiry, first out principles.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct cycle counts by customer/item/location on a schedule determined by Management
  • Facilitate the physical movement and consolidation of inventory to create space and optimize warehouse utilization
  • Investigate and help resolve inventory issues
  • Report damages to customer goods, racking, equipment and other problems
  • Maintain the prescribed freezer layout by relocating and consolidating inventory as required to keep customer goods orderly in designated areas
  • Maintain the cleanliness and integrity of the freezer by regularly tidying alleys and bin locations (clearing away excess wrap, broken / damaged pallets, tidying and/or taping damaged cartons where applicable, reporting any discovered critical damages as required).
  • Submit daily walkthrough check list reporting any damages or irregularities
  • Daily order verification of any orders shipping within 48 hours at FIPI (finish picking) status.

Qualifications

  • Secondary Education (High School Diploma)
  • Strong interpersonal and social skills
  • Forklift Certification sit-down counter-balance forklift, and narrow-aisle reach forklift.
  • Strong grasp of arithmetic and basic math skills
  • Detail-oriented and well-groomed appearance is mandatory

Working conditions

Work performed within a cold, refrigerated environment (Between 4C and -22C).
The ability to lift up to 60 lbs. in weight, as occasionally there are hand-piling tasks to be completed.
