City Driver
Job purpose
The city driver position will support the Inbound Logistics Manager in executing TAS’ daily pick up and delivery commitments to freight customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform pick ups and deliveries assigned to them in accordance with TAS’ daily schedule.
To complete pre-trip inspections and montior the condition of the assigned tractor and trailer combination (which may change from time to time). And, to inform ILM of any issues if & when they occur or are noticed.
To assess the quality of freight and pallets being picked up. Any quality issues must be reflected in driver’s signature on shipping documentation.
To count all freight possible to count. Driver will sign STC (said to contain) or SLC (shipper load & count) in all situations where freight is un-countable or they are not provided an opportunity / access to properly count. Driver to escalate if Shipper does not permit proper signage.
To respect the rules and regulations of the road. Driver must operate vehicle in a manner that is safe and compliant with all rules of the road.
To set and maintain reefer(s) at the proper temperature given the freight being transported. This information is provided on the bills of lading & manifests provided to the driver at the time of pick up. Any conflicting or unclear information related to temperature maintenance of the freight being hauled must be
called out prior to departure from shipping terminal.
To update pick up, delivery, ELD, and PTI related information in tablet throughout the work day.
To conduct oneself with professionalism, care, and a positive attitude. TAS drivers represent the company when performing pick ups and deliveries. They are the face of the company that customers and consignees see on a daily basis. As such, they must conduct themselves in a manner that is professional, conscientious, polite and friendly toward all third parties they encounter in the course of their work for TAS.
To collaborate with the ILM and TAS warehouse staff on a daily basis in an effort to promote a positive team atmosphere focused on delivering quality services to TAS customers.
To inform ILM and/or Warehouse Manager of any returned freight on trailer prior to leaving for the day.

Professionalism: City Driver must understand that they represent the company and treat their colleagues and TAS customers with respect. CD will always be polite and professional in all of their dealings on behalf of TAS.
Working conditions
Work performed within a cold, refrigerated environment (Between 4C and -20C) and outside. Regular
exposure to the outside elements in the course of daily work.
